$#@& poetry. WHO talks like that? Let’s all talk like that.
John Patrick Shanley also wrote another of my favorite movies (not nearly so elegant but still great), Joe vs the Volcano — and sometimes you can tell.
“I bribed them to sing a song that would drive us insane and make our hearts swell and burst.”
I rented Moonstruck from the Greenport Library today (you’ll appreciate that). I was the only one in the whole library, besides the weird librarians. I’ll go and see if I can rent Joe and the Volcano tomorrow—I haven’t seen it.
This reminds me so much of old Brando: I want you to come upstairs and GET IN MY BED!
I totally appreciate that you went to the GP library. Meanest librarians anywhere, except Poppy.
And, YES! you’re right, he’s TOTALLY channeling Brando.
Joe vs the Volcano: people love it or hate it. I love it — especially the parts about clothes and luggage. But I don’t want to steer you wrong — it’s great, but it’s no Moonstruck.
